Asa Hugill built Simpson Covered Bridge in 1881 for $1483. The bridge carried traffic in Bridgeport, West Virginia. Originally located a half mile upstream, it was washed out by the floods of July 1899. The kingpost truss bridge is 75’ long. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in June 1981. Simpson Covered Bridge was renovated in 2002 for $380,072 and is one of two covered bridges left in Harrison County.
