Barrackville Covered Bridge

In Barrackville, West Virginia, in 1853, the Barrackville Covered Bridge was built. The modified arched burr truss bridge crosses the Buffalo Creek at 145'. Twenty years after the completion siding was added to the bridge. Was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1981.

The Barrackville Covered Bridge was replaces by a $1.2million bridge in 1992. Restoration of the covered bridge started in 1998, costing $1.5million. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held in the autumn of 1999 to officially reopen the covered bridge, to pedestrian traffic only.
