Downsville Covered Bridge

Robert Murray and the town of Cochester came to a $1700 agreement to build a covered bridge across the East branch of the Delaware River in 1854. The long truss with added queenposts is the oldest covered bridge in Delaware County. The Downsville Covered Bridge is one of three maintained by the county and was rehabilitated in 1998 for $975,000. Shortly after rehabilitation it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in April of 1999, with the Hamden Covered Bridge and Fitches Covered Bridge . Scarborough Covered Bridge

When Bob Scarborough said he wanted to build a covered bridge, to enter the Barclay Farms neighborhood in Cherry Hill, everyone was surprised because no one was building covered bridges anymore. The Scarborough Covered Bridge cost $32,000 to build the two-lane bridge and opened to vehicular and pedestrian traffic on February 14, 1959. The 55' bridge was the first covered bridge to be built in New Jersey in 93 years. The North Branch of the Cooper River runs under the unique town truss bridge, unique because it has sidewalks. Simpson Creek Covered Bridge

October 28, 2022 Asa Hugill built Simpson Covered Bridge in 1881 for $1483. The bridge carried traffic in Bridgeport, West Virginia. Originally located a half mile upstream, it was washed out by the floods of July 1899. The kingpost truss bridge is 75’ long. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in June 1981. Simpson Covered Bridge was renovated in 2002 for $380,072 and is one of two covered bridges left in Harrison County. October 28, 2022 October 28, 2022  

Barrackville Covered Bridge

In Barrackville, West Virginia, in 1853, the Barrackville Covered Bridge was built. The modified arched burr truss bridge crosses the Buffalo Creek at 145'. Twenty years after the completion siding was added to the bridge. Was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1981. The Barrackville Covered Bridge was replaces by a $1.2million bridge in 1992. Restoration of the covered bridge started in 1998, costing $1.5million. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held in the autumn of 1999 to officially reopen the covered bridge, to pedestrian traffic only.

Walkersville Covered Bridge

October 28, 2022 John Sprigg built the Walkersville Covered Bridge in 1903, for $567. The 39' queen post truss bridge spans the Right Fork of West Fork River in Walkersville, Lewis County, West Virginia. The bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1981. In 1984, the bridge received a limited restoration. A full restoration was done in 2004 for $230,859. The Walkersville Bridge is the only covered bridge remaining in Lewis County. Fitches Covered Bridge

The West branch of the Delaware River runs through Delhi, New York. In 1870, a 113' town lattice truss covered bridge installed for $1900. Fitches Covered Bridge was moved from it's original home on the Delaware River to its current home in 1885. Made the National Register of Historic Places in April of 1999 and while being rehabilitated in 2001, the three diamond shaped windows were added.
