Downsville Covered Bridge

Robert Murray and the town of Cochester came to a $1700 agreement to build a covered bridge across the East branch of the Delaware River in 1854. The long truss with added queenposts is the oldest covered bridge in Delaware County. The Downsville Covered Bridge is one of three maintained by the county and was rehabilitated in 1998 for $975,000. Shortly after rehabilitation it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in April of 1999, with the Hamden Covered Bridge and Fitches Covered Bridge.
